Barcelona is a beautiful city to visit all year round. But no matter if you go during the summer or winter, if you are travelling by plane, you also have to know what airport transportation option would be best for you.
Depending on where you want to go, how fast and for how much money, you can take a taxi, rent a car, take the bus, the train or the metro.
Barcelona airport taxi is the easiest and fastest way to get from the airport to the city. It is available 24/7, and it takes about 20-25 minutes to get to Barcelona. The price is around 25€ from Terminal 2 and around 30€ from Terminal 1. A regular taxi can take up to four persons, but there are larger taxis that can take up to six passengers for an extra fee of 3,10€. You will also pay 1€ for each suitcase and 3,10€ airport fee. Not all drivers speak English, so you’d better have the name of the hotel and the address written somewhere.
The Aerobus is relatively inexpensive and fast. You will pay 5,90€ for a one-way ticket or 10,20€ for a return ticket. You can purchase the tickets online, from the driver or a vending machine. There is one bus line for each terminal, so there are two buses A1 and A2. You will get to the city in 35 minutes, and the bus makes only four stops until the center of the city.
Besides the Aerobus, there is also a regular bus. It takes longer to get to the city, but it costs less. You will pay 2,15€ for a trip, or you can buy the T-10 card for 9,95€ (the card can be purchased only from the tobacco shop or the train station).
The Rodalies commuter train will get to the city in about 19 minutes, and the price of a ticket is 4,10€. You can also purchase a T-10 card for 9,95€, which will allow you to make ten journeys.
The metro line is the L9 Sud, and it has stations in both T1 and T2 terminals. The first metro leaves the airport at 5 am and the last one at midnight during the weekdays and at 2 am during the weekends. The price for a ticket is 4.50€.
